Ol Pejeta Conservancy, a 360 km² not-for-profit wildlife sanctuary in Kenya's Laikipia County, is a conservation powerhouse and one of East Africa's top safari destinations. Located on the equator between Mount Kenya and the Aberdares, it's home to the world's last two northern white rhinos (Najin and Fatu), the only chimpanzee sanctuary in Kenya, the largest black rhino population outside South Africa (over 170), and the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, rhino). It's renowned for sustainable tourism that supports local communities, with year-round wildlife viewing—best from June to October for drier conditions and easier tracking.

Depart Nairobi after breakfast (around 7:00 AM).
Enjoy a scenic drive through central Kenya’s coffee and tea highlands.
Arrive at Ol Pejeta around midday.
Check in to your lodge or camp (e.g., Sweetwaters Serena Camp, Ol Pejeta Bush Camp, or The Stables).
Afternoon
Lunch at camp, then relax.
Afternoon game drive in the conservancy. Spot the “Big Five” (lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, buffalo).
Visit the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, home to rescued chimps.
Return to camp for sundowners and dinner.

When is the best time to go?
Year-round, but July-Oct for wildebeest migration (crowded, higher prices). Dry season (Jun-Oct, Dec-Feb) best for game viewing. Nov-May: Greener, fewer crowds, but possible rain.
What if I'm traveling solo or with kids?
Solo travelers: Share with same-gender group members if needed; small groups (up to 7-8).
Kids: Welcome (ages 5+ typical; under 5 may need private tour).
Is it safe? What about health precautions?
Yes, with experienced guides; vehicles have trackers/radios. Malaria risk: Use repellent, long sleeves; consult doctor for prophylaxis. Yellow fever vaccine may be required (check CDC/WHO). Drink only bottled water
